Initiatives

1. UK Future Built Environment Initiative
Preparing the UK for the built environment of 2035–2040.
The UK Future Built Environment Initiative is an independent platform exploring how architecture, engineering, construction, technology, education and public policy must evolve to prepare the United Kingdom for 2035–2040.
We bring together emerging professionals, established practitioners, universities, industry, technology leaders and policymakers to examine the forces that will shape the next generation of the built environment.
What should the UK built environment look like in 2035?
The decisions we make today will define the places, buildings, infrastructure and communities of the next generation.
AI & Automation
How artificial intelligence, robotics and digital construction will transform design and delivery.
Climate & Net Zero
How the UK can move from carbon reduction towards climate-resilient places and buildings.
Housing & Cities
How we should rethink housing, density, affordability and urban growth.
Skills & Education
What architects, engineers and construction professionals will need to know in 2035.
Advanced Construction
Off-site manufacturing, robotics, new materials and industrialised construction.
Planning & Policy
How regulation and planning need to evolve alongside technological and environmental change.
The UK Future Built Environment Report
Annual research on the forces shaping architecture, construction and the built environment towards 2035–2040.
Each year, the report will bring together research, expert perspectives, emerging technologies and industry evidence to identify the opportunities and challenges facing the UK's built environment.

2. International Association of Architecture and Facades (IAAF)
Advancing excellence in architecture and façade innovation worldwide.
Establishedin 2026, the International Association of Architecture and Façades (IAAF) supports practice, research, and education by providing an international platform for dialogue and knowledge sharing in the fields of architecture and façades.
The Association brings together a multidisciplinary community of architects, designers, engineers, researchers, academics, and industry professionals engaged in shaping the built environment.
Through research, professional exchange, conferences, and collaborative initiatives, the IAAF promotes international dialogue, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration across architecture and façades.
First IAAF Meeting: 17th of June 2026
On the 17th of June 2026, the inaugural IAAF meeting took place at Zone29, University of Westminster, 29 Marylebone Road, London, in the Sky Room.
The event brought together architects, façade engineers, researchers, educators, and industry professionals to exchange ideas, discuss current challenges, and explore future opportunities in architecture and façade innovation.
Follow the IAAF for upcoming events, conferences, awards, research initiatives, and professional opportunities as we build an international network dedicated to shaping the future of architecture and façades.
